The construction of the building started two years ago by the then Minister of Economic Affairs, Hon. Basil Rajapakseby laying the Foundation Stone. But the foundation itself took much longer than usual due to the high water table and unsuitable soil. This had to be completely removed and refilled with quarry fine stones without pumping out the water. This method was utilized to prevent any damage to adjoining properties. The building has 21 class rooms, an auditorium,  laboratory and a computer section. The roof top can accommodate a net ball court which will be provided by the Government as promised by the Minister of education.
