YWMA opens a Ahadiya school in Wellampitiya, Malaysian envoy praises efforts to impart religious education among needy children

The Young Women’s Muslim Association,YWMA, in collaboration with Masjid Un Noor Jumma Masjid inaugurated a new Ahadiyyah School at the Sithy Fathima Ovais Centre, Polwatte, Goathami road, Wellampitiya on Saturday October 26.

It was held under the patronage of YWMA President Mrs. Fawaza Thaha.

Welcome address was delivered by C.M.S Uvais, Trustee Masjid un Noor Jumma Masjid.
Chief Guest of this ceremony High Commissioner for Malaysia Badli Hisham Adam and Madam Zalinah Mohd Yusuf were present.

High Commissioner Badli Hisham Adam said in his speech Prophet Muhammad (SAL) always on time and Our life will be successful if we observe punctuality in life. He pointed out the importance of Mother and Father in human life. Mother is stronger than father because she produces the baby.

High Commissioner said when he was affected by Covid 19 ,he was in a bad condition. His mother prayed Surah Yaseen and cried before Almighty Allah for his recovery. He said thanks to Almighty Allah every time “ Al Hamdu Lillah “. Also said the Gaza people are suffering without water and food. In the meantime we Sri Lankan are safe without any problem,therefore “we have thankful to the Almighty.”

Guest speaker at the launch was Prof Rasheen Bappu , an adviser & practitioner in Preventing Violent extremism & Terrorism ,Author ,visiting lecturer at the Institute of National Security Studies, National Defence College, Defence Command & Staff College, Ministry of Defence, South Asian Network for Prevention of Violent Extremism & Terrorism affiliated to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. Speaking at the event , he thanked YWMA, YMMA, All Ceylon Ahadiya Federation & Mosque trustees for thier initiative. He mentioned these organisations are well recognized in the Ministry of Defence as contributors to strengthen National Security. Further he said Ahadiya schools have grown 100% post easter attack upto 650 schools in Sri Lanka at present. Muslim Civil society contribution is vital in order to strengthen National Security & proper religious education is the key to eradicate religious extremism & radicalisation. He was happy to work with all stakeholders who contribute to National Security which encompasses Education, Economy, Culture,Cyber, Food, Environment etc. He further said Children need to be brought up in Ahadiya schools to be patriotic to the country, to serve the country & to the society. They need to be groomed & enriched with ethics & human values to be a useful citizens of Sri Lanka. Irrespective of race , religion every one should work together as Sri Lankans for the growth of this country. He was felicitated with a token of appreciation by the Chief guest His Excellency Badli Hisham Adam, High Commissioner of Malaysia for Sri Lanka at the event.

The organisers presented a token of appreciation to the High Commissure Badli Hisham Adam, Professor Rasheen Bapu and Mrs. Noorul Imtiaz Ovais at this event.

Also distributed exercise books and stationery to the students by chief guest, guest of honour, Patron of YMMA Conference Khalid M. Farook, YMMA National President Amhar Shereef, Colombo Times Chief Editor and Arab News Colombo Correspondent Mohamed Rasooldeen , Colombo District Ahadiyya Schools Federation President Ashroff Roomi and others

Members of the YMMA and YWMA, Parents, Teachers, Students and Masjid Un Noor Jumma Masjid board of trustees were also present.
