Rifti Muhammed Rizwan – Sri Lankan wins intl. Quran Contest for first time

Sri Lanka’s Rifti Muhammed Rizwan, who came first in the international Holy Quran recital contest, held at Mecca in Saudi Arabia recently, returned to the country on Wednesday. Eighty six countries participated in the event.

 

This is the first time that a Sri Lankan had secured the top slot in this prestigious international contest.

 

The Deputy Minister of Buddhist and Religious Affairs M. K. D. S. Gunawardena and Western Province Governor Alavi Moulana were among those present at the Katunayake airport to receive Rifti.

 

Subsequently, he was escorted to a felicitation function held at the Grand Mosque in Colombo.

  1. The video clip you have given and the article are contradicting. The video is of Abdul Cader Mohammed Ghany who recited in Dubai Quran competition and not Mecca.
    Please verify and make sure that you pass the correct information in the global media like internet.
