Qatar funded Cataract Removal Surgery project launched

Qatar Charity has implemented a transformative health initiative under its health programme to combat blindness in Colombo City area by its Sri Lankan field office. The Cataract Removal Surgery project, funded by Qatar, has brought light back into the lives of many, which consists of 500 needy patients. Qatar Charity also expects to complete one thousand surgeries at a cost of Rs. 44 million by the year end.

The primary objectives of the project were to reduce avoidable cases of visual impairment, lessen the economic strain on health institutions facing challenging conditions, alleviate the suffering of poor patients, especially in underprivileged areas, promote community health regarding eye diseases and reduce poverty associated with disability resulting from visual impairment.

The project has benefited many and is part of an ongoing long term health programme of Qatar Charity Sri Lanka office.
