The extract from Mr. Barrie’s speech is given below:
I am indeed proud and privileged to be here today morning and sharing the happy occasion of celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Amal International School Founders Day.

25 years of dedicated service to the community, is a long period by any standard and let me pray to Almighty to reward the founder immensely and continue to bless them for the dedicated service rendered. Jazakallah.

I must make a special supplication to Allah to bless and ease the condition of Br M. C. M. Zarook , the founder and the board of Directors who went through real hardship in trying to maintain the high standard required as per the mission and vision of the school, which is the educational arm of CIS. May Allah reward them all.  Insha Allah.

Keeping to the motto of the school ‘ Oh Allah advance me in knowledge’ and following the mission and vision, I find by going through the records, the school has achieved more than what was originally envisaged over this twenty five year period. This is not possible without the dedication and hard work by the Principal, the teachers, the parents and the students. I am sure the OBA with the Board of Directors too would have contributed in achieving the goals.

Achieving goals is an important phrase in any one’s life, especially among the students. Failure to achieve when you are young will haunt the rest of their life. Everyone who are seated here in the stage will vouch and agree with me that what we are reaping is what we had sowed when we were young and I am sure some of us are feeling sorry that we would have done better if we had concentrated little more than what we did when we were young.

Therefore my humble advice to the students is to utilize your time in achieving all your goals including that is required for the next world. Nothing is impossible and if you try you could achieve anything. As per the Hadeeth- Youth in the path of Allah is one of the seven who will get the shade when there is no shade available  on the Day of Judgment

As a student one should shine not only as a bright student but should excel in sports and other activities too. These additional activities will help him to meet the challenges that he will meet in real world.

As a source of motivation I am proposing a scholarship to anyone who enters Medical or Engineering, after excelling in sports too. I have offered a similar scholarship to Zahira College too. The student should enter the local university with 4 A , an all round student representing the school in any of the sport, also member of the national team and be a prefect of the school.

In the words of late Dr. A M A Azeez, former Principal Zahira College Colombo, it is easy to attain but difficult to maintain. To maintain the high standard achieved need continuous hard work and dedication by all concerned. Hence may Allah help Amal International School to grow day by day in every way, and maintaining the high standard reached so far. Insha Allah.
