Seven schoolboys from the Advanced and Ordinary Level mediums of Zahira College, together with their Principal A.R. Marikkar are on a visit to India. The Principal and the students left for India on April 15 and will be in India until today. The visit is organised by the India-Sri Lanka Foundation, which aims to promote greater understanding, educational and cultural cooperation between the peoples of India and Sri Lanka.

The schoolboys who are on their maiden tour of India and first ever overseas visit, are hosted in India by the Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura Branch. Their time in India is devoted to interacting with students at Bal Bharati Public School, attending classes, and undertaking joint activities as well as field visits.

The schoolboys from Zahira College, together with students from their host school Bal Bharati Public School, visited the Sri Lanka High Commission in New Delhi on April 18 where they interacted with the High Commission staff.

The students were appreciative of the opportunity afforded to them to visit India which they described as most rewarding # an opportunity to understand each other, learn from each other, share experiences and most importantly, discover commonalities. Students from both schools expressed keen interest to build upon this initial interaction to institute regular exchanges between their two schools.
