International Conference of Religious Leaders in Malaysia

A multi-religious group headed by MP Marjan Faleel will attend the International Conference of Religious Leaders which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Tuesday (7).

The conference aims to promote peace, harmony and unity within diversity among religious leaders across the world.

The programme will be under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, Dr. Mohammad Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the Secretary General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars and Senator Dato’ Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Na’im bin Haji Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs).

The others in the Sri Lanka delegation include Most Ven. Banagala Upatissa Thera, President of Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka and Chief Sangha Nayaka of Japan,  Secretary Hindu Priests Association Rev, Sivasiri Darshaka Sharma Kurukkal, All-Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama President Ash Sheikh M.I.M. Rizwie Mufthi, President of Association of Muslim Youths  Ash Sheikh M.S.M. Thassim, Former Hajj Committee  Chairman Ahkam Uwise and Colombo Times Chief Editor Mohammed Rasooldeen.

Mr. Rasooldeen told  Daily News that the  Interfaith Harmony Conference on May 7 provides a unique platform for religious leaders and stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaboration. By embracing diversity and fostering mutual respect under the guidance of leaders such as Dr. Shaik Mohammed Abdulkareem Al-Essa, Secretary General of Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, we can pave the way for a peaceful and harmonious coexistence, both in Malaysia and globally.”

The event is sponsored by the Makkah-based World Muslim League in association with the Jabatan Kemajuan Islam in Kuala Lumpur. Delegations from 63 countries are participating in the event.
