Sdakathul Jaariya Wells Program 2012/2013 – Sri Lanka

Its with a sense of pride and humility to continue with our duty to help the less fortunate with something of sustaining benefit to them. . Yes, the program of Sdakathul Jaariya Wells, has again begun. When we began this program in 2009/2010 this is what we said:-

‘”Our experience in the construction of Sadaka Wells in Kinniya and Battulu Oya last year (2009/2010); revealed that the wells were not just hand outs to give some temporary relief to the recipients of these communities.  Instead, it had a lasting and sustainable impact in that they became self reliant by using the well water to engage in small scale cash crop and animal husbandry; making them self respecting citizens standing on their own feet. We chose Kinniya in the EP, as it suffered tremendously from the twin traumas of abject LTTE brutality and the devastating effects of the Tsunami.   Hence this year too we expanded this program in Kinniya and built twelve (12) more dual purpose wells. “

In the year 2010/2011, we expanded this program and completed twenty one (21)  wells. There was a break in this program last year owing to a lack of supervisory capacity. However this year it has continued owing to its uniqueness of its capability of sustaining benefit  to the less privileged and a positive source of life giving water for domestic and agricultural activity; so much so that the beneficiaries gave personal letters to the blessed donors. It is belief in Islam that “ The evil dies with you but the good that you do lives after him/her”. You are advised to visit your well when completed, to witness for yourself the gratefulness of the recipients and the extent of the construction of the well.  Until such time, we shall be sending you pictures of the wells construction and after its completion.

We have this year received donors for this purpose  from the UK and Sri Lanka and more have promised to make their contributions – Insha Allah
