IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development

“Promoting Women in Science”

Dear members of IDB Science Development Network

The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) established the IDB Prize for Women’s Contribution to Development in 2006 to enhance women’s participation in the socioeconomic development process.

The prize consists of a cash award of US$50,000 for an individual woman and a cash award of US$100,000 for an organization.

It is awarded annually in order to draw international attention to the vital role women play in developing their communities and the world. It focuses on a specific theme each year.

This year marks the sixth edition of the Prize with the theme “Promoting Women in Science”.

This is to recognize contributions being made by female scientists in improving people’s quality of life or in encouraging girls participation in the field as well as recognizing an organization which facilitates and disseminates women’s scientific innovation for improving the quality of life of the community.
