Aluthgama Holocaust and the Muslim Social Responsibility (MSR)

Dear Brothers and Sisters ,

Assalamualikum…Exactly one month has gone since the large scale arson attack on Aluthgama. Innocent Muslims became victims overnight. The fault of them was nothing but being borne as Muslims. Every victim has a story for you to tell how tensed was that night with tears in their eyes.

All Muslims have the responsibility to help the Aluthgama victims. Although the government pledged to repair the houses there are many other needs to bring back their life to normalcy. We have to consider these under MSR.

Every Baithulmal and the Islamic organizations have to play a role under MSR. Individuals who are waiting to help must go through a Baithulmal or an organization to provide a coordinated and balanced support to provide rehabilitation and reconstruction. All these help should go through ADF (Aluthgama Development Foundation). This organization was formed by the educated and the intellectual of the area immediately after the incident.

Dehiwala Galkissa Baithulmal (DGBM)is one of the organizations trying to collect and divert the relief assistance to Aluthgama victims based on the need assessments and the monitoring reports of the ADF. Our Baithulmal members have visited and will be visiting the affected people in order to ensure the assistance are reaching properly.

Therefore, consider sending part of your Zakath and Sadaqa to  DGBM. To know some information about our Baithulmal visit www.baithulmaldmsl.org. As the president of the organization I have 15 years of experience in two major emergencies in relief related work in Cambodia and Somalia under United Nations. If I can make a contribution in my own capacity that could be my contribution under MSR.
