Saudi Arabia conducts eye camps in eastern and southern parts of Sri Lanka

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, in continuation of its humanitarian efforts, carried out the Noor Saudi Volunteer Project to combat blindness and related diseases at the government hospital in the Kattankudy area, Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. This project took place from February 10th to February 16th, 2025. It reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of underprivileged communities globally, particularly in countries like Sri Lanka, which benefit from the Kingdom’s assistance.

This initiative follows the success of previous humanitarian activities, including the Noor Saudi Volunteer Project held in November 2024, aimed at providing care and support to low-income communities. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has remained dedicated to improving healthcare and supporting those affected by medical conditions, such as blindness, in Sri Lanka. The project provided essential medical services, including eye surgeries and treatments, helping those in need and enhancing their quality of life.

This project includes performing surgeries for thousands of cases and providing them with medical services and providing them with medicines, spectacles and lenses in addition to providing them with health awareness. During this campaign, patients were treated as follows:

Medical examinations: 4484
Distribution of spectacles: 974
Surgeries: 478

It is worth noting that the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center will implement another project in the Base hospital in the “Walasmulla” area in southern province of Sri Lanka during the period from 18th – 23rd February 2025.
