Colombo Zahira records 85% passes with 20% securing 3As at A/L Examination

COLOMBO : Nothing succeeds like success. For Zahira College, Colombo under the gentle and methodical care of the veteran scholar and the lawyer Trizvi Marikkar, has achieved the unprecedented academic excellence at the recently released results of the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination that was held for the year 2023. 

There were 20 Zahirianss that have come out with flying colours of 3As while their 17 candidates have got with 2As and 1 B. Notably, there were 326 students who sat for the A/L examination from Zahira and 273 of them passed this hurdle tapping the door of varsity entrance.

Principal Trizvie Marikkar pointed out that their pass rate of 2022 was 71.2 and a solid 12.5 percent growth is shown this year. “What is the secret behind this achievement of your college?” With a smile he proudly mentioned that their teachers are the architects of this achievement of zenith as they went out of their way to coach and mentor their students. He further added that parents and students themselves methodically contributed their parts to make Zahira College a number one Muslim school in Colombo.  

Zahira College Colombo that was founded in 1892 as Al Madrasathul Zahira by renowned Islamic lawyer and the educationist, Muhammed Cassim Siddi Lebbe provides quality education to over 5500 students is developing by leaps and bounds under the guidance of its principal Trizvie Marikkar who joined as the Deputy Principal in 2011 and was promoted as the principal in 2013. He has wisely initiated a special project for A/L education to see that Zahira as one of the best schools in Colombo. Undoubtedly, his long-term project has paid dividends ensuring a large number of students to get university entrance. “Our next target is getting 1000 students for learning A/L at Zahira”, he gladly revealed this point when he was interviewed. It is not impossible as Zahira readily offers scholarship for students who get 9As or 6 As with 2As for Science and Maths.
