An event will be held today (12) to commemorate the 75th birthday anniversary of the founding Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and NUA and a former Minister M. H. M. Ashraff.
The event organised by the National Unity Alliance (NUA) is scheduled to be held at Jasmin Hall at the BMICH, starting 4:00 p.m., according to NUA Leader Azath Sally.
Sally also emphasised that the NUA was the brainchild of the late Ashraff, founded to unite every Sri Lankan.
Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga will be the Chief Guest and keynote speaker at the event, with the Guest of Honour being the Speaker, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
TNA Spokesman MP M. S. Sumanthiran will deliver the Ashraff commemoration speech in Tamil and the former Commissioner of Elections will address the gathering in Sinhala on the same topic, Sally said.
