Six vaccination centres allocated in Colombo this week

Colombo, March 23 (Daily Mirror) – The Colombo Municipal Council yesterday said it had allocated six centers in Colombo this week where those above the age of 60 years can receive the anti COVID19 Astra Zeneca jabs.

Chief Medical Officer of the CMC, Dr. Ruwan Wijemuni told Daily Mirror that the vaccination programme will exclusively be administered to those above 60 years of age and urged other age groups to refrain from visiting the vaccination centers.

He said for the coming two weeks, the programme would be exclusively for the elderly under the WHO’S COVAX programme and once all the elderly are vaccinated in Colombo, it will open out to other age groups.

“If there is anyone who visits the clinics who are not 60 and above, we will have to turn them away,” Dr. Wijemuni said.

According to the CMC, the centers have been set up in Colombo North, Central Colombo, Borella, Colombo East and Colombo West.

Today, the centers will be set up in North Colombo (District 1) at the New Bazaar MOH/MCH Complex, in Central Colombo (District 2A) at Keththarama Temple, Keththarama, in Central Colombo (District 2B) at Kichilan Hall, Withanage Mawatha, Colombo 2 and Gamini Matha Elders Home, Sir James Periris Mawatha, Colombo 2, in Borella (District 3) at Wanathamulla, MCH Center, in Colombo East (District 4) at Jinendraramaya Temple, Thimbirigasyaya and in Colombo West (District 5) at Wellawatta, MOH/ MCH Complex along with Mobile Vaccination at elderly homes.

Tomorrow, the vaccination centers will be at North Colombo (District 1) at New Bazaar MOH/MCH Complex, in Central Colombo (District 2A) in Bodirukkaramaya Temple, Dias Place, in Central Colombo (District 2B) at Kichilan Hall, Withanage Mawatha, Colombo 2 and St Marius Elders Home, T.B. Jaya Mawatha, Colombo 2, in Borella (District 3) at Wanathamulla, MCH Center, in Colombo East (District 4) at Kirula MOH/MCH Complex and Colombo West (District 5) at Wellawatta, MOH/ MCH Complex.

On Thursday the centers will be in North Colombo (District 1) at Rajamal Watta MCH and mobile vaccination at elderly homes, in Central Colombo (District 2A) at Bodirukkaramaya Temple, Dias Place, in Central Colombo (District 2B) at Methodist Church, Galle Road, Colombo 3, in Borella (District 3) at Wanathamulla, MCH Center, in Colombo East (District 4) at Kirula MOH/MCH Complex and in Colombo West (District 5) at Wellawatta, MOH/MCH Complex.

On Friday, the centers will be set up in North Colombo (District 1) at New Bazaar MOH/MCH Complex, Central Colombo (District 2A) at Armour Street Flats, Community Hall, in Central Colombo (District 2B) at Methodist Church, Galle Road, Colombo 3, in Borella (District 3) at Wanathamulla, MCH Center, in Colombo East (District 4) at Kirula MOH/MCH Complex and in Colombo West (District 5) at Wellawatta, MOH/ MCH Complex.

On Saturday the centers will be set up in North Colombo (District 1) at New Bazaar MOH/MCH Complex, in Central Colombo (District 2A) at Armour Street Flats, Community Hall, in Central Colombo (District 2B) at Abayasingharamaya Temple, Panchikawatta, Colombo 10, in Borella (District 3) at Wanathamulla, MCH Center, in Colombo East (District 4) at Kirula MOH/MCH Complex and Colombo West (District 5) at Wellawatta, MOH/ MCH Complex.
