Book Launch – ‘Clouding the Crescent in Sri Lanka’

A well researched and documented book on the rise and fall of communal politics in Sri Lanka,by Lukman Harees,UK based Sri Lankan author and social activist , will be launched on Monday 19th October at 6.00 pm,  at the ClubHouse , Havelock City, Colombo 06.This book particularly highlights  how the recent hate campaign against Sri Lankan Muslims affected the socio-political realities ,and the imperative need for a political will to reiterate the multi-ethnic and multi-lingual approach in working forward for a future Sri Lanka with a sustainable peace and economic development. 

 

Most Rev. Dambara Amila Thero, Senior Lecturer ,University of Sri Jayawardenepura , will deliver the keynote address on the theme: National Reconciliation: the Need of the Hour. Mr S.G.Punchihewa, Senior Attorney at Law and Pioneer Human Rights Activist wil review the 493 page book, with a more pictoral accent. The book will be available for sale after the event, which will be personally signed by the author.

Lukman recently authored another book 'The Mirage of Dignity on the highways of human progress' published in US, which covers the wide gap between the rhetorics and realities pertaining to human rights in the world.This book was mentioned in the London Book Review and received many review accolades.
