Book on Dr. Shafi’s Struggle Against Injustice launched

The launch of Ashroff Shihabdeen’s book Dr. Shafi’s Struggle Against Injustice was held at the BMICH recently.

It was held under the patorange of Abrar Foundation Chairman Consultant Paediatrician Dr. Rayees Mustafa. Zainab Shafi, daughter of Dr. Shafi delivered the welcome address.

Western Province Governor Haneef Yoosuf was present as chief guest, while the special guests were South Eastern University Chancellor President Counsel Faisz Musthapha and former Western Province Governor Azath Salley

A documentary was screened about Dr. Shafi’s struggles during that period.

Former representative of Sri Lanka to the UN, A.L.A. Azeez reviewed the book and Open University Visiting Lecturer Sumaiya Sherifudeen also addressed the gathering.

Dr. Shafi thanked the community and friends and relatives who conducted prayers and fasted for his release.

He presented the first copy of the book to Governor Haneef Yoosuf.

Member of Parliament Mujeebur Rahuman, All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama Secretary Ash Sheik Arkam Nooramith, former Member of Parliament Ishak Rahuman, representatives of Muslim organisations, authors, editors of print and electronic media, family members and friends of Dr. Shafi were also present.
