‘No tears for Palestine’ – A tale of Western intrigue in the Middle East since World War I By Latheef Farook

Today it is becoming increasingly clear that the ongoing Israeli genocide in the occupied Palestine territory of Gaza has been a well-coordinated and executed war crime. Continuing events have exposed the complicity of the US, the UK, Europe and despotic Arab rulers in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates in the execution of Israel’s genocidal attacks.

Through his weekly articles to the international media on the unfolding heinous crimes committed by Israel on helpless Palestinian civilians, senior Sri Lankan journalist Latheef Farook has ended up writing the history of Western crimes in the region which began in the aftermath of the collapse of Turkey’s Ottoman Empire. It also exposes the treacherous role Arab dictators in the Middle East played and are still playing in betraying the Palestinian cause.

During the First World War – 28 July to 11 November 1918 – Turkey’s Ottoman Empire was defeated by the imperial British and French powers. The victorious British and French brought the Middle East under their control. They then divided the lands under their control into separate states and installed corrupt Arab dictators to serve the interests.

The new rulers enjoyed no popular support among the local population. They were thus forced to depend on the military power of their imperial benefactors for their continued rule. To date, this oppressive system continues with corrupt rulers fattening themselves, while the people remain poverty-stricken and illiterate.

In 1948 in the aftermath of World War II, the victorious allied powers (the US, UK and other European states) created an artificial racist Jewish state of Israel in what was originally the undivided state of Palestine. The new immigrants, after driving out Palestinians from the homes and lands claimed their lands for themselves.

Since the formation of the alien racist state of Israel in 1948, the US and other imperial states in Europe use Israel and the Arab stooge rulers to take forward their evil agenda.
