Former president of the Sri Lanka-Pakistan Friendship Association, Ifthikar Aziz passes away in Colombo

COLOMBO – Former president of the Sri Lanka-pakistan Friendship Association Ifthikar Aziz passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning at his residence in Colombo  on April 24. 2024

He is survived by his beloved wife Rezani and his three sons Kamran, Aftab and Malik.

In September 2016 ,the Government of Pakistan conferred the prestigious title ‘Tamgha-i-khidmat’ on Iftikhar Aziz for his invaluable efforts extended towards the promotion of Pakistan-Sri Lanka friendly relations as well as for his great contribution towards enhancing trade, investment and strengthening educational and cultural links between the two nations.

Aziz was elected as the first president of the organisation. His association with Pakistan spans over 45 long years, and he had been a member of the association for decades . Having held many posts in the organisation, Aziz was recognized for his loyalty, commitment and efficiency, and re-elected six times as its president.
