This book contains a collection of selected articles, appeared both in the local and the international media, on the attacks on Muslims of Alutgama, Dharga Town and Beruwala by mobs instigated by the Sinhala extremist Bodu Bala Sena during curfew hours on 15 and 16 June 2014.
Killing of Muslims, looting their belongings and the destruction of their properties were meticulously planned and executed to military precision. However, the island’s mainstream media observed a news blackout and failed to cover up the shameful carnage.
They dismissed the pogrom which reduced many wealthy families to paupers overnight by stating that a” curfew was imposed due to a “tense situation”.
Increasingly under Sinhala racist influence and the anti Muslim Israeli lobby, the local media woke up to the reality only after seeing the wide coverage to the mayhem in the international media.
Thus the need to put the record straight for posterity. The result was the book” Mayhem During Curfew”.
This book is not sold in the bookshops.
