Striving for Peace & Justice by Lauren Booth ICNA-CSJ Annual Banquet and Fundraiser
ICNA Council for Social Justice, a social justice advocacy organization is holding its Annual Banquet and Fundraiser on December 17, 2011. Well known British journalist, sister in-law of former British prime minister Tony Blair, and a revert Muslimah, Sr. Lauren Booth will be the key note speaker. Congressman Andre Carson also has been invited. Other Speakers include Imam Khalid Griggs, Chairman ICNA Council for Social Justice, Dr. Zahid Bukhari, national president of ICNA. New this year will be pre- event workshops on public advocacy and social justice. This event will be held in Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge, 1900 N Fort Myer Drive, Arlington, VA 22209. This year on the day of ICNA Council for Social Justice Annual Banquet and Fundraiser, we will hold two Pre-Event Workshops on Public Advocacy and Social Justice. First workshop will be on "Advocacy vs Lobbying: New Trends adopted by Unions, Corporations and Foreign Entities" By Asim Ghafoor, Esq. a public affairs attorney. The second workshop will be on "American Muslims and the Struggle for Civil Rights: A Historical Perspective" By Salahuddeen Kareem. These workshops will start at 2.30 pm and end at 5.00 pm.
