Türkiye offers scholarships to international students from all over the world to study in the most prestigious universities in Türkiye. These scholarships are not only providing education opportunities at an international calibre, but also a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Türkiye Scholarships is a government-funded scholarship programme, awarded to outstanding students and researchers to pursue full-time program at the universities in Türkiye. It is highly competitive and merit-based, offering the candidates academic excellence. Türkiye Scholarships aims to build a network of future leaders committed to strengthening cooperation among countries and mutual understanding among societies.
What is unique about Türkiye Scholarships?
Türkiye Scholarships programme is not only inclusive of financial support, tuition fee, accommodation and health insurance but also provides university placement and academic, social and cultural facilities to its awardees at all levels of higher education. One-year Turkish language course provided for all students creates opportunities to benefit from a wide range of academic resources.
When the programme received its name “Türkiye Scholarships” in 2012, the number of applications was around 40.000. The scholarship programme received more than 117.000 applications from 162 countries in 2023. As a result of the comprehensive selection process that starts at the beginning of each year in January, 9 Sri Lankan and 14 Maldivian students were admitted to Turkish universities for higher education within the scope of Türkiye Scholarships programme for the academic year 2024-2025. The quota for 2025-2026 academic year will be 25 for Sri Lankan students.
The students selected from Sri Lanka for the scholarship programme were welcomed at the Turkish Embassy on 16th of August 2024. A briefing was given to the students about the education system and life in Türkiye, along with the bilateral relations between the two countries. While Türkiye Scholarships program aims to minimize inequalities in the field of education, it also strengthens the ties and connections between different nations.
