A.M.A, Azeez was recognised as a National Hero of Sri Lanka and a commemoration stamp was issued on 22.5.1986. Stamps were also issued for other National Heroes, namely, Martin Wickramasinghe, Brahmachari Walisinghe Harischandra, Ven. Kalukondayawe Sri Pragnasekara Maha Nayake Thero and G.G. Ponnambalam.
