President Mahinda Rajapaksa's gesture to invite student Naleem Zaky Ahamed to Temple Trees was commended by the Principal, teachers and students of Kekirawa Muslim Maha Vidyalaya in Anuradhapura yesterday.
Ahamed obtained 195 marks at the recent Year Five scholarship examination.
According to a spokesman for the Examinations Department, Naleem Ahamed became Sri Lanka's first Muslim student to obtain 195 marks at a scholarship examination, while two other students, Oshadhi Rashiprabha Fonseka of Kalutara Balika Maha Vidyalaya and Vibangi Nethmi Ranaweera of Miriswatta National School of Dodamgoda also obtained 195 marks each.
This was the first time where three students had obtained the same marks at the Grade Five Scholarship examination. The Principal of Kekirawa Muslim Maha Vidyalaya, S.M. S. Abdeen held a ceremony yesterday at the school to felicitate Naleem for obtaining the highest marks at the examination. He also briefed the teachers, students and parents about the President's invitation to Naleem to visit Temple Trees along with the class teacher and his parents.
The President also extended his best wishes to Oshadhi Fonseka and Vibangi Ranaweera for their achievements at the scholarship examination.
